CIP Tackles Neyland Stadium Painting Project
University of Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium in Knoxville has a seating capacity of 102,455. CIP is working closely with the general contractor, Wright Contracting, to make sure the project is completed on time and meets the high quality standards of UT. The success of this project so far can be contributed to the hard work and expertise of the dedicated CIP staff.
The Scope of the Project
This project consists of the renovation of 78 luxury suites and sandblasting and painting the exterior side of sections LL to PP. CIP is hanging commercial vinyl wallcovering, repainting walls, ceilings and door frames in the 78 luxury suites. CIP is sandblasting sections LL to PP to meet SSPC-SP6/NACE NO. 3 Commercial Blast Cleaning standard and applying one coat of Sherwin Williams Macropoxy 646FC and a topcoat of Sherwin Williams Hi Solids Polyurethane.
The Challenges of Painting Neyland Stadium
The first challenge this project presents is the deadline. The project has a very tight schedule that is dictated by the University’s football schedule. The stadium must be ready by the first home game.
The second challenge is containment. Because the project is for only specific sections of the stadium, the entire area where sandblasting and painting is occurring is being wrapped with containment tarps to protect the surrounding areas.
It’s Football Time in Tennessee!
CIP is currently ahead of schedule on this project and we should wrap everything up well before the Vols first home game on September 3rd.
